AN INTERVIEW WITH
BRENNA

Q - Where are you from?

A - I am originally from the Midwest.  From Minnesota to Michigan, I've lived there.  In 1996 I made my move to New England and I have been living in Connecticut since 1999.

Q - What brought you to this area?

A - I was offered a promotion with the company that I worked for to come to Connecticut.  So many of my major life moments have occurred since living here - I think it's a great state!

Q - Where did you go to College?

A - I recently graduated from Regent University with a BA in Religious
      Studies.

Q - What do you do at Seaport Community Church?

A - My first responsibility is to the children and families of Seaport.  It is my ministry to make sure, from birth through middle school, that each child is being discipled and challenged to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ.  I am also the Director of Missions Ministries which means I help with all of our foreign missionaries.

Q - What drew you to Children's Ministry?

A - When I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to work with kids.  However, I thought I would be a school teacher.  While first attending Seaport, God began to move in my heart and made it clear to me that the one thing I could do to make the biggest impact of the Kingdom of God was to work with His children.  Children have a capacity to hear God's voice that is unparalleled.  I get to be a part of mobilizing children to change the world, how awesome is that!

Q - What are your hobbies?

A - I love to travel.  Whether it is overseas or just a short drive away, I love to visit new places.  When I'm not traveling, I simply love to read and to bake.

Q - Tell us about your family?

A - I was married to my wonderful husband, Adam, here at Seaport in 2003.  We are very happy to announce that we are expecting our first child in September, 07!

Q - One more question...What is the one thing you wish people knew about Children's Ministries?

A - Children are not the future.  People say that, but it's just not true.
Children are the PRESENT!  Working with kids isn't just preparing them for when they get older; it is helping them see all the things God wants to do through them TODAY.  There is no "Junior Holy Spirit".  The same Holy Spirit that flows through men and women also flows through boys and girls.  The only difference is that kids have twice as long to do amazing and miraculous things for God!
